Never before had I seen the horizon look more beautiful. Where the sea met the sky and the sun went to sleep in its wonderfully amazing cradle.

Sounded poetic, that. But I could not resist. This place deserves to extract at least a few poetic words from me. But you have to visit it to believe me.

When we were visiting San Francisco (SFO), we had no idea that this place existed. A chance mention from a friend and we headed the 20 miles north on Highway 1. And I am so glad we did. The very journey to the top of the overlook is beautiful. We went uphill with the sea peering at us here and there from between. Ready with my camera, I waited in anticipation, wondering as to what lay ahead. But nothing could prepare me for two things. One, the perfect view that I was about to witness. And two, the heavy, heavy winds! As we got out of the car, I was almost blown away, given my small size. It was a relief to see that my not-so-small friend was not having an easy time, either.

Of course, the wind did not stop us from climbing the few stairs to reach the top. My husband was adventurous enough to decide to leave the stairs and go uphill the difficult way. But he came back to the stairs pretty quick!

The view from the top is perfect, as I said. The hills, the sea and the sky in perfect harmony. Far far away, you can see the Golden Gate Bridge of SFO, and further still, the amazing horizon that I mentioned. You can just sit there and watch. And that's precisely what we did, till the sun went down. More photographs of this place are in the image gallery.
