Romantic Getaways
in the World 1.
Venice, Italy
Venice
is a city in northern Italy, the capital of the region Veneto, famously
known as “La Dominante", "Serenissima", "Queen of the Adriatic", "City
of Water", "City of Bridges", and "The City of Light". Luigi Barzini
from The New York Times, described it as "undoubtedly the most
beautiful city built by man". With its many canals, bridges and
magnificent palaces and piazzas, it is no surprise that Venice is
considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is
gloriously romantic in spring, triumphant in summer, noble in autumn
and seductive in winter. A romantic gondola ride in Venice is something
you'll remember a lifetime. These rides are available in lots of
different places in Venice, starting with just in front of the train
station.
2. New York City New
York was the unexpected winner of a recent survey on which the city was
voted the best city for a romantic break, beating Paris, Venice and
Rome. This city is a fantastic place to visit if you're romantic at
heart. There's so much to see and do here that the hardest part of your
trip will be deciding what you want to do. From top notch lodging to
amazing dining and from entertainment to hot nightlife, you have it all
in the Big Apple. A leisurely stroll in the evening or sitting back in
a horse-drawn carriage around Central Park, taking in the dazzling
skyline, a daytime walk through Central Park, or an amble across the
Brooklyn Bridge are all very romantic. The city oozes love and
romance for all sorts of personality types and interests. 3. Lake Tahoe, California Lake
Tahoe is a beautiful, crystal-clear blue lake nestled among mountain
peaks, that Mark Twain called "the fairest sight the whole earth can
provide". It has depths of up to 1,600 feet and the mountain peaks are
in the 8,000 to 10,000 feet range. Summer activities include golf,
boating and hiking. Winter activities include world class skiing,
snowmobiling and ice skating. Shopping, gambling, eating and taking in
the wonderful scenery is enjoyed all year round. A summer romantic
getaway in the mountains or hiking/mountain biking along a
rugged
landscape or evenings of fine dining in lavish restaurants followed by
bustling nightclubs are all possible at this breathtaking body of water
that's perched at a higher elevation than any other alpine lake in the
world. 4. Santorini Island, Greece The
most visually stunning of the Greek Cyclades group, this
amazing
honeymoon spot has all the makings of a dream vacation: picture perfect
cliff-side villages, exotic black-sand volcanic beaches, unbelievable
sunsets, luxurious cave-rock hotels, dramatic red-and-gray cliffs
stretching to the sky and the Aegean's finest wineries. Built atop
volcanic ashes on the ruins of what Plato believed to be the lost city
of Atlantis, the sight of whitewashed villages hanging on cliffs far
above the sea is breathtaking. Santorini is famous for its panoramic
views, ambience, the strange white aubergine, the town of Thira and its
very own active volcano. There are some fantastic beaches such as the
beach of Perissa, the black pebble beach of Kamari, white beach and red
beach. 5. Vienna, Austria Vienna,
capital of Austria, is one of the most beautiful, romantic and vibrant
cities of the world with many interesting tourist attractions. Its
blend of historical and cultural heritage mixed with majestic
boulevards, medieval streets and ornate courtyards, radiates old world
charm and magic. The cobbled streets are lined with superb Viennese
coffee houses, from where you can try an Austrian fruit tea and the
city’s famous pastries. You’ll also find cosmopolitan shops, museums
and fantastic restaurants to wine and dine in. For the evenings, you
can sample an opera, ballet or concert. Have a ride on a coach pulled
by horses in the old part of the city, take a voyage by ship, or visit
the romantic chateau of Schönbrunn, or visit the real Viennesse
“Heurigen”. The atmosphere of the local wine bar rooms in Viennese
Grinzing is unique and heavenly.6. Costa Rica Costa
Rica is considered to be the ideal tropical paradise with bewilderingly
diverse landscapes, flora, and fauna. From rain forests to dry tropical
and temperate forests, to volcanoes, to Caribbean and Pacific beaches,
to high mountains, and marshy lowlands. No wonder then that lyrics of a
native song say ‘Virgin Mary came down to Costa Rica and never went
back to Heaven’. For the romantics, there are many beautiful secluded
places to have a romantic dinner, a candlelight picnic, or simply watch
the sunset fade into the horizon. According to the Eight Annual
Honeymoon Survey held by the prestigious world-class Magazine, Modern
Bride, Costa Rica was selected among the World´s 50 best honeymoon
destinations. Apart from the beauty, the country also has a friendly
culture, state of the art facilities and convenient tourist amenities. 7. Nassau Paradise Island, Bahamas Paradise Island is an
island
in the Bahamas, located just off the shore of the city of Nassau, which
is itself located on the northern edge of the island of New Providence.
It is best known for the sprawling 'Vegas-by-the-sea resort' Atlantis.
This makes a top notch destination for romantic travelers thanks to
unbeatable waters, great resorts, and very easy access from the
US. From quiet alone time at a luxurious or quaint resort, to
challenging nature on horseback or in a canoe, to dining on gourmet and
local dishes, to a romantic carriage tour or simply unwinding on a
quiet beach; all are romantic favorites when on this island.
Nassau/Paradise Island promises you’ll fall in love all over again.8. Victoria, Canada Nicknamed
the Garden City, this beautiful city is said to be one of the most
romantic places in Canada. Incredibly clean & quaint, Victoria
almost seems like a little piece of old England perched on the southern
tip of Vancouver Island. Sunny summers and wonderful springs with fresh
breezes and blooming flowers give Victoria some of the best weather in
Canada. This picturesque capital city is just 90 minutes by ferry from
Vancouver, making it perfect for a weekend or a day visit from
Vancouver. Visitors tread cobblestone streets, watch hanging baskets
sway, and listen to the clip-clop of horse drawn carriages. There are
also beautiful gardens, museums and, of course, the romantic Victoria
beachfront. You and your partner are sure to find a fantastic, cozy
little romantic spot to cuddle up and enjoy each other.9. Tahiti, South Pacific Tahiti
is the largest of the 118 islands and atolls that comprise French
Polynesia in the South Pacific. For years and years, Tahiti has been a
leading vacation and honeymoon destination. With beautiful
fine
white sand beaches, warm crystal clear waters, emerald green mountains
and spectacular scenery, mere words can hardly describe the beauty,
serenity and magical essence that will fill your very being when you
arrive at these islands. Sometimes said to be “the most beautiful
island in the world”, it has almost perfect climate. Tahiti romantic
holidays are amongst the most glamorous in the South Pacific. The
islands are renowned for their gorgeous overwater bungalows, sitting on
stilts above a turquoise lagoon with colourful fish swimming
underneath. 10. Rome, Italy Rome,
the 'Eternal City', is the capital of Italy and the famed city of the
Seven Hills, La Dolce Vita, the Vatican City and Three Coins in the
Fountain. It is a perfect destination for a honeymoon, Valentine's
weekend or a surprise birthday trip. Rome has scores of beautiful
romantic lanes, restaurants and parks to enjoy with ones loved one.
Going down the small medieval lanes leading from the busy squares,
around both Campo de' Fiori and Piazza Navona, there are plenty of
pretty corners where you can escape the crowd. Wandering along these
lanes arm-in-arm is a romantic experience in itself, but you could add
to the moment by visiting some of the smaller bars and restaurants
you'll find here. The Spanish Steps, the Fountain of Trevi, Pantheon,
Piazza Navona, the Tiber River and, of course, the Vatican are all part
of the Roman heritage and add to the romance of the city.
